Sherborn Friends of the COA's Holiday Bazaar offers something for everyone
With the December holiday season well under way, Sherborn Friends of the Council on Aging is reminding everyone in Sherborn, Dover and surrounding residential areas that this Saturday, Dec. 3, will be a “not-to-be-missed” opportunity to select unique and creative gifts for almost everyone on their holiday lists.
The Friends recommends that everyone make their first shopping stop in Sherborn itself at the second annual Holiday Bazaar and Gourmet Cookie Sale to be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Community Center, 2 Sanger St.
Thirty-five exhibitors will be showing a wide diversity of their individual and original creations not reproduced in massive copies. No matter the composition of your gift list — children, mom and dad, young adults, aunts and uncles, grandma and grandpa, friends and neighbors — there will be many of these unique items available for selection. The artisans and crafters will fill all spaces in the center, so when you arrive, be sure to pick up a Location Directory at the front door to help you find the exhibitors you want to see.
Half of the vendors and their wares were identified in last week’s announcement. Please look below for a list of the remaining half below.
An important feature of the Bazaar will be the return of Joy Anne MacConnell, renowned silhouette portrait artist. She will be available from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for private sittings of children and/or entire families. It is recommended that everyone interested in having one of her heirloom portraits made for a lifetime remembrance, please call Chairman Audrey Raycroft at 508-954-2647 or email araycroft@comcast.net for appointments on Saturday. Each sitting takes only 5-10 minutes, but the demand has been heavy. Joy Anne donates a portion of her proceeds to the Friends of the Sherborn COA.
The Friends’ annual Holiday Cookie Bake is the “double feature” accompanying this year’s Bazaar. More than 50 of Sherborn’s “Best Bakers” will have their home-baked varieties available to patrons on Saturday. Varieties range from New England’s oldest classics to the very latest popular additions. They will be available packaged in seasonal, decorative tins for gift-giving or as tasty servings for welcoming guests. For questions and further information, please call Cookie Chairman Corinne Whitaker, 508-655-7951, or email mcjcpc@verizon.net.
