Harry David Weeg

Harry was born April 16, 1930, in Big Springs, Texas. He was the son of Harry David and Ruth (Harrod) Weeg of Big Springs, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosa Faye (Rice) Weeg, on September 3, 1948. Harry moved to Independence, Missouri, from Big Springs, Texas, in the summer of 1961. He retired from Rutledge Oil after thirty-one years of service in 1992. He and Faye moved to the Lake of the Ozarks after retirement, filling his time as owner and managing the Hook ‘Em Fishing Guide Service at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. They returned to Independence in 2004, where Harry began working as a part-time Security Guard at The Fountains of Greenbrier.  Harry was very active in the youth baseball leagues during the 1960’s, in the Independence area. One highlight was taking the OK Tires team to the Connie Mack Little League World Series in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1968. Harry was a member of the Coventry Baptist Church in Independence. Harry did not know a stranger and his caring for others was one of Harry’s best traits. He could be found sitting on the dock at the Lake of the Ozarks talking about the “one” that got away or visiting with one of the residents at the Fountains. His caring continues after his death, as Harry bequeathed his body to the Kansas University School of Medicine for teaching and research.
