So after scissor+shotglass grinding for a while, you finally stepped up and bought a grinder . We’re proud. Our little stoners are growing up so fast. But, as I’m sure you’ll discover on your own shortly, grinders can get pretty funky after repeated use. Herb can get caught in the wrong places and make it difficult to operate and the screen can get clogged, preventing your grinder from collecting kief. Time to give it a good cleaning!
So how do you clean it? Time to grab a few items.
Isopropyl Alcohol Ziplock bag or bowl Medium size glass panStart by disassembling your grinder and filling your bag/bowl with a small amount of alcohol. Take any of the grinder peices and place it in the alcohol to sit for 5 minutes. If the piece is not clean, try agitating it and letting it set for another 5 minutes. You should find that the herb falls off the grinder very easily once placed in the alcohol. Once a piece is clean, simply remove it and replace with the next piece of the grinder.
In no time flat your grinder will look as if it’s brand new again. No squeaking, no difficulty when grinding. Hell, it will look so good you could resell it as “never used.”
But now you’re stuck with a bag of bright green alcohol that’s full of little bitty particles of marijuana goodness. What do?
Pour out the alcohol onto the flat glass plan and set in a dry warm place to evaporate. (Do not apply heat, let evaporate naturally.) Once all of the alcohol is evaporated off, grab a scraping tool (Razor, credit card, etc) and scrape up the remaining matter. Congrats, it’s your first batch of grinder hash.
Take your hash and pack it into a nice fresh bowl, smoke, and enjoy.
